Review: Sleeping Dictionary is a beautifully shot movie set in the pre-independence era of India. The story is narrated by John Truscott, a British civil servant who arrives in India to take up his post as a colonial officer. He becomes fascinated by the local culture and customs and takes a special interest in learning the local language.

He then meets a young girl, Selima, who becomes his "sleeping dictionary" - teaching him the language and customs of the local people. John and Selima develop a close bond over time, despite the cultural and social differences between them.

The movie touches on some serious themes such as colonialism, cultural differences, and the struggle for independence. However, the romance between John and Selima is the main focus of the story. The chemistry between the two leads, Hugh Dancy and Jessica Alba, is palpable and their performances are commendable.
